DIRECTIONS

12/14/2011
Beyond the mountain road
   Past sunflower fields
And private fishing ponds
   I choose not to turn

Routine left to the left
   And the right as well
An unfamiliar stop
   In panic he points

Kyle, This is my favorite-I know exactly what you are referring too.
I think you have found a voice that others will relate to.
Keep writing-I see a book in your future! Sheila

    • Thank you! I’ve been writing these for a while now, and I fully intend to keep doing so. It’s really helped me to gain new insights into some of the things we go through with Matthew.

I agree! I love Kyle’s writing and can’t wait to see it in book form. The structure and imagery of his poems are perfect for quick reflection on days when inspiration or comfort are needed.

Matthew’s memory is amazing. He knows how to get around better than I do and will tell me which way to go when I’m driving. He has all of his favorite routes memorized, and we often ask his opinion when we’re on a lazy, country drive. It’s hard when we make a mistake or simply cannot go the direction he wants – only he knows what views he needs to make things right in his world.
