PAINT

10/22/2012
Pink and neon colors
   Brushes match the paint
Muddy on the canvas
   Counter-clockwise swirls

Dripping off the easel
   Flecks soaked into clothes
Dried above the cupboards
   Gifts left on display

Matthew makes wonderful masterpieces, and we’re thankful to have one on our wall! : )

I usually wait for Deborah to provide a bit of explanation for me to understand the nuances of the poems. But this time, the imagery is so cleat that no explanation is needed. When my kids need to express their inner artist, I, too, must provide “brushes (that) match the paint” and clean up the “flecks soaked” into their clothes. But it is all worth it for the wonderful “gifts” that they give to us.

Matthew is indeed a talented painter! He enjoys the process of putting paint to canvas and is very deliberate in the colors he chooses. His art brightens our home!
